Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has directed that all journalists in the state be vaccinated against Covid-19 as frontline workers without age restriction. The CM said that during the pandemic, the journalists have cooperated as frontline warriors by disseminating correct information and raising public awareness.
The staff members of the Information department have also been involved in similar efforts from the lockdown till the present. Considering this, the CM has directed that arrangements should be made to vaccinate journalists, representatives of media organisations and staff of the Information department as frontline workers without any age restriction.
On the directions of the CM, the Information director general Ranvir Singh Chauhan has sent a request to the Health secretary for necessary action. It is pertinent to mention here that the mediapersons from Dehradun registered for covering the Kumbh Mela received their first shot of the vaccine on March 31 with the cooperation of the Health department on the CM’s directions.
