The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is reaching Joshimath on Saturday to participate in the Auli Marathon. Notably, Auli Marathon is being organised with the objective of spreading the message that Joshimath affected by land subsidence is  safe for tourists and pilgrims. This is the first such marathon in Auli being organised by the Ski and Mountaineering Association, Uttarakhand in which players from many states of the country are participating.

Speaking of the mission behind organising the marathon, the president of Ski and Mountaineering Association Uttarakhand, Ajay Bhatt said that this is to remove the negative public impression created around this year’s Badrinath Yatra under the shadow of the Joshimath land subsidence crisis. “The tourism business in Joshimath-Auli has been negatively affected by the land subsidence crisis. It has nearly collapsed. So we are organising this marathon competition to send the message to the people at large that most of the areas in Joshimath-Auli are safe,” he said.

He further said that they wanted to ensure through organising the marathon in Auli that this year’s Badrinath yatra is not negatively affected by the negative messages coming from Joshimath. “The CM’s participation in the marathon will further boost the mission with which we are organizing this marathon,” Bhatt added.
