In order to control the surge in Covid-19 cases, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has authorised the district magistrates to impose curfew or other strict rules in their respective districts. Chairing an emergency meeting with officials on Sunday, the CM said that all preparations for Covid vaccination should be completed. The process for procurement of the vaccine should be completed without wasting any time. Covid vaccination of the people of Uttarakhand at the earliest should be the top priority of the state government, he said. Additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretaries Amit Singh Negi, Shailesh Bagauli, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, DIG Ridhim Agrawal and additional secretary Arunendra Chauhan were present in this meeting.

He said that all the DMs will be authorised to impose curfew or stricter regulations on their discretion in their respective districts. However, it should be ensured that industrial activity, goods transport, construction and other essential services continue without disruption. Stating that there is adequate oxygen in Uttarakhand, he said that its use in the proper way is very important. He directed officials to ensure that no patient dies due to lack of oxygen. While the full capacity of oxygen plants should be used, care should be taken to ensure there is no shortage of the necessary cylinders. The CM further said that strict action should be taken immediately on people not wearing masks or violating social distancing norms. He also stressed on the need for more strictness on the state borders.

Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey informed that in addition to the eight oxygen plants already active, permission has been received for seven new plants. Stating that arrangements are being made for more oxygen concentrators, he said that there is no shortage of oxygen in the state at present.
