The general public has welcomed chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s ‘Apano School Apano Praman’ initiative under which all the certificates necessary for competitive exams will be provided to the students of class XI and XII students in school. Citizens believe this facility will lessen the hassles faced by parents, prove helpful to less educated parents and also prevent scope for corruption. However, some have stated that the government should also clarify the norms regarding issuance of domicile certificates. Commenting on this initiative, National Association for Parents and Students Rights (NAPSR) president Arif Khan said, “The State government’s decision about making the necessary certificates available at school is commendable. However, the success of this initiative will depend on the school administration. As they take much time in issuing just the transfer certificates, the government must keep a check on the schools so that certificates are issued to students on time and without taking any extra charges. Apart from this, the government must implement this initiative in the proper way.”

School teacher Anjali Negi said, “Issuing the necessary certificates from school is a good decision. It will help the parents and the students when they are beginning to work towards their career. The parents who are less educated and unaware of the formalities concerning certificates are now relaxed.  However, this decision has increased the responsibility of the school management.”

Academician Dinesh Juyal said, “The decision taken by the government is appreciable and is being welcomed by the people. However, the government must clarify the norms regarding the domicile certificate. It should be clarified if the students who are not residents of Uttrakhand are required to make the domicile certificate or not.”

Parent Rajendra Rawat said that issuing of necessary certificates at school will resolve hassles faced by students and parents as they won’t have to undergo the stress of completing the usual formalities or the certificates. The school administration must not take unnecessary advantage of this initiative and issue the certificate to the students on time, he added.
