Swami Govind Dev narrated aspects of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s life on the third day of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Katha in the University of Patanjali on Thursday. He said that while in Bijapur, Shivaji saw the temples, buildings, cows being slaughtered on the roads, scared farmers and other scenes which caused him much discomfort. “He asked himself about who he was, how his family, society and nation were, whether the traditions were being observed or destroyed. Jeeja Mata used to tell him to consider these aspects. It was the values taught to him by Jeeja Bai that kept him conscious about his nation and society,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Balkrishna said that one is fortunate to listen to the story of the great warrior Shivaji, the flagbearer of Indian culture and traditions. “Swami Ramdev also takes up hardships for our better future. At times, some people ask why he rakes up controversy. He doesn’t create controversy. It is some evil persons who emerge at different times to cause such issues. The saint comes to the front to protect the whole nation from such persons. We should take inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji and Swami Ramdev and become fearless warriors. One should seek inspiration from great personalities and try to become like them. If one cannot become like the great personalities, one should take inspiration from their lives and become their followers,” Balkrishna said.
