Online training for Panchayat representatives

In a novel initiative the Uttarakhand government has decided to train thousands of representatives of three tier Panchayati raj system with the help of Television (TV). The Panchayati Raj department has prepared audio visual modules on different aspects of local self governance. The department has entered into an agreement with the Doordarshan to telecast these modules and they can be watched on DD free dish,  Dish TV, UCN, BSN and DEN cable networks from October 7 to 21 from 3 PM to 4.30 PM. The secretary Panchayati Raj H C Semwal told The Pioneer that the modules would help in capacity building of the Panchayat representatives. He said that by watching these programmes the representatives can get inputs and increase their knowledge about different subjects of the Panchayati Raj system. Semwal said that training of Panchayat representatives needed to be done immediately after their election. He said that the department had done all the preparation for imparting training to the Panchayat representatives but the process was suspended due to the pandemic of Covid-19. Semwal said under the revised plan online training modules have been prepared.

He added that the soon a help desk would be set up in the Panchayati Raj directorate in which the problems and quires of the panchayat representatives on subjects like laws and regulations in Panchayati raj act, financial provisions, ‘e gram Swaraj portal’ would be solved and information about technical aspects of different applications and schemes of the department would be given.  Set up under the digital India campaign, the help desk would prove beneficial for more than 67000 representatives of three tier Panchayati Raj system The department is also planning to set up Common Service Centres (CSC) in 622 Nyay Panchayats of the state.
