The Bharatiya Janata Party has expelled six rebels including its sitting MLA from Rudrapur, Rajkumar Thukral for a period of six years. The BJP state president Madan Kaushik directed the expulsion of six leaders for anti-party activities stating that the party will not tolerate indiscipline. Apart from Thukral, those expelled from the BJP include Teeka Prasad Maikhuri from Karnprayag, Mahaveer Singh Rangad from Dhanaulti, Jitendra Negi from Doiwala, Dhirendra Chauhan from Kotdwar and Manoj Shah from Bhimtal. It is pertinent to mention here that the rebels are contesting the Assembly elections as independent candidates after being denied tickets by the party.
