Hitting back at the BJP’s offensive on the Congress party after the Income Tax raids on the properties of the Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu resulted in cash recovery of Rs 351 crore, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that corrupt leaders joining BJP become free from the charges of corruption. He referred BJP to a Ganga in which the sins of all corrupt get absolved after they take a dip in it.

Giving examples of chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Suvendu Adhikari, Jitendra Tiwari, Hardik Patel, Ajit Pawar and Mukul Rai, the PCC president said that these leaders were corrupt as long as they were in the opposition parties and when they joined BJP all their stains have vanished. He said that the BJP government has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax not to take any action against these leaders.

He said in the Sharda chit fund scam, the CBI last questioned the then minister in Congress government of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma in November 2014 and his file was closed when he joined BJP in 2015. Similarly the BJP had accused Suvendu Adhikari for being involved in the Sharda scam and Narda sting case but all these allegations evaporated in thin air when Adhikari left TMC to join BJP.

Taking a dig at BJP, the PCC president added that the washing machine of the party has cleaned Jitendra Tiwari, Maharashtra leader Narayan Rane, Hardik Patel and many other leaders of all their sins.
