AAP leaders reach U’khand to woo women voters

Prominent women leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from Delhi, Atishi, Geeta Rawat and Vandana Kumari have started their three-day tour to woo women voters ahead of assembly elections in Uttarakhand. These party leaders arrived in the state on Friday and participated in the women dialogue meetings in Haldwani, Kotdwar and Rishikesh. Atishi started the registration process of women under the ‘Empowered Woman Prosperous Uttarakhand’ campaign in Haldwani to make the women aware of Kejriwal’s fourth guarantee of providing Rs 1,000 to every woman aged above 18 years and register them to be its potential beneficiary if AAP wins elections. While addressing the event, Atishi said that the Delhi government left no stone unturned in the upliftment of women but the women of Uttarakhand are suffering for years under the successive governments of Congress and BJP. “Many women across the state have to put their lives at stake to give birth. Lakhs of women give birth in the state every year but there is still no improvement in health services. Governments here have always sidelined women and never paid attention to their welfare,” stated Atishi.

She said the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has uplifted the condition of women in Delhi and the same will be done in the state after winning the elections. Rawat and Kumari also addressed women in Kotdwar and Rishikesh respectively and asked them to support the party in the elections.
