The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with the taxi union on Friday asked the regional transport office of Dehradun to act against the illegal operations of Rapido company which provides bike-taxi services to locals. The union members have claimed that scooters and bikes which are being operated illegally by Rapido Company in many districts of Uttarakhand including Dehradun, are causing hefty losses to taxi drivers. They said that most of such vehicles have neither required permits nor commercial registrations which is also causing loss of revenue to the transport department.

The AAP State spokesman Ravindra Anand said that the illegal operation of Rapido is also not safe from the point of view of the safety of the locals. He claimed that most of their two-wheelers belong to other cities and have private numbers and the company will not be held responsible if an accident occurs due to their riders. He said that they kept all these points before the regional transport officer (enforcement) Shailesh Tiwari on Friday who assured them of appropriate action in the matter. Anand said that the party along with the taxi union has demanded restricticton on the operation of Rapido in the district or they will hold a protest against the department.
