The former CM had sought apology for lathicharge on unemployed
Reacting to the apology tendered by the former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat for the recent Lathicharge on the unemployed in Dehradun, the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said that the former CM should also apologise for the misdeeds during his tenure as CM of the State. “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others. Trivendra Singh Rawat should remember how the people suffered when he was the CM of the State,’’ she said. The Congress spokesperson said that the women of the State who were protesting for 90 days for widening a road in the Chamoli district were brutally Lathicharged by the police in Gairsain on March 1, 2021. She said that there is not much difference between the BJP leaders as they become snobbish on coming to power. “ The only difference is that while women were lathicharged when Trivendra Singh Rawat was CM, the unemployed were lathicharged during the tenure of Pushkar Singh Dhami. Everyone remembers how Utara Pant, a teacher, was humiliated by the former CM,’’ she said.
During his visit to Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal on Friday, the former CM Rawat had said that the unemployed youth should not have been lathicharged. He said that some mistakes of the youths should have been neglected and added that being a responsible citizen and a former CM of the State he seeks apology for the Lathicharge.
The statement of the former CM attracted attention of everyone and many are linking it with the power dynamics in the Uttarakhand unit of the BJP.
