4th Ranking & Open Canoe Sprint Senior championships to be held at Tehri from December 28 to 30

THDC India Limited (THDCIL) in collaboration with the Kayaking and Canoeing Association of Uttarakhand, Indian Olympic Association, Uttarakhand Olympic Association and ITBP as technical partner will organise the 4th Ranking and Open Canoe Sprint Senior (men and women) championships (Tehri Water Sports Cup) at Tehri Power Project site, Tehri Lake.
Informing about this, the THDCIL chairman and managing director RK Vishnoi said that the event is scheduled to be organised from December 28 to 30. This international sporting event will also be a qualifier round for Asian championships and Olympic qualifier- 2023. Vishnoi said that more than 300 participants are expected to showcase their talent in the canoeing and kayaking competitions during the event. In the canoe sprint- men and women senior event the participants will compete in 200 metres, 500 metres, 1,000 metres and 5,000 metres categories while in the mixed men and women senior events the participants will compete for 500 metres in mixed D and 200 metres in master men and women categories. Various notable personalities are expected to attend the sporting event.
This three-day event will be an opportunity for a number of sports enthusiasts and sportspersons from the whole country to showcase their talent and endurance in this championship along with nurturing sports culture among budding sportspersons. According to the organisers, this championship is an endeavour to strengthen the spirit of ‘Khelo India’ at the grassroot level.
