Focus on safe, self reliant, healthy & accessible U’khand: CM

Says that the govt has made an increase of 34 per cent in the budget of health sector this year

The focus of Uttarakhand government in the last four years has been on making Uttarakhand safe, self reliant, healthy and accessible. The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat listed these four areas as his government’s priorities during his interaction with the media persons at Bharadisain on Friday. The CM said that the state government has made in increase of 34 per cent in the budget of health sector this year. He said that the state health service now has 2,136 doctors and process of recruitment of 763 doctors is at present under progress. “In Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, 2,35,000 people have so far availed the benefit and a sum of Rs 254 crore has been spent so far. The infant mortality and mother mortality rate has witnessed a decrease while the immunisation has increased from 87 per cent to 99 per cent in Uttarakhand,’’ he said.

The CM claimed that a total of 7,431 kilometres of roads were built in the state in the past four years which is almost equal to 7,529 kilometres built in first 16 years since the creation of the state. “A total of Rs 1,083 crore is kept in budget this year under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana along with Rs 330 crore for construction of motor bridges and Rs 385 crore for maintenance of roads. For increasing air connectivity a provision of Rs 181 crore is made in the budget,’’ he said.

The CM further informed that the government has increased the budget for education by Rs 300 crore. He said that the government has made a provision of Rs 24 crore for providing school bag and shoes to the students. He said that the government has increased the budgetary allocation in agriculture from Rs 1,048 crore to Rs 1,108 crore this year. Rawat said that a provision of Rs 30 crore is made for development of border areas under Chief Minister’s Border Area Development Plan. To prevent migration the government has allotted Rs 18 crore. “The government has also allotted Rs 20 crore for development of Chaukhutia airstrip as the area has tourist potential and is of strategic importance. For automated testing centres, a provision of Rs 17.12 crore is made in the budget and for construction of Panchayat Bhawans, Rs 20 crore has been provided in the budget. For payment to sugarcane farmers, a sum of Rs 245 crore is kept,’’ he said.
