In latest news from Uttarakhand, with the big American auger machine having developed glitch while inserting pipes into the tunnel debris at Silkyara, two auger machines were airlifted from Indore at Jolly Grant Airport late in the night to carry on with the evacuation operation meant for 41 workers remaining stuck in the collapsed tunnel for the past six days. Those in the know informed that these machines had been sent for Silkyara in three vehicles immediately after they were unloaded from the special aircraft. The director, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) A M Khalkho said that following the installation of the newly arrived machines, the drilling work would start to push escape channels through the tunnel debris.
