The authorities recovered the body of a 19-year-old young man from the Song River in the Chidderwala area on Monday. The police informed that the victim named Aftab, a resident of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, had arrived at the Song River near Oneshwar Temple in Chidderwala area on Sunday along with his four friends who work in a company in Laltappar area. According to his friends, Aftab lost control while taking a bath near the river and fell into it, said the police. They said that friends tried to save him but he was not visible to them in the current of the river. The police immediately called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to carry out search operations in all the possible locations but his body could not be found on Sunday. The SDRF along with its team of divers continued the search on Monday and finally retrieved the body from the river near the accident site. The police said that the body would be handed over to the guardians after completion of required procedure. The police have also appealed to everyone to be vigilant near water bodies, especially during rains, as a sudden rise in water level can lead to potential accidents.
