CLP leader Pritam Singh submits petition
The Congress party has demanded termination of the membership of Purola MLA Rajkumar from the Uttarakhand assembly. Rajkumar had recently joined the BJP. The Leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Pritam Singh submitted a petition to Vidhan Sabha secretary Mukesh Singhal on Wednesday in which the demand was made.
In the petition Singh said that Rajkumar contested the assembly election of the year 2017 on the symbol of Indian National Congress from Purola assembly constituency and was elected to the fourth assembly of the state. He said that on September 12, 2021 Rajkumar joined the BJP in Delhi in presence of BJP leaders Dharmendra Pradhan, Anil Baluni, Madan Kaushik and others. In his petition Pritam Singh further added that since Rajkumar has left the Congress party on his own he becomes ineligible for the membership of the house under the provisions of tenth schedule of the constitution.
He demanded that the membership of Rajkumar should be terminated and the seat represented by him should be declared vacant. The CLP leader added that Rajkumar should be barred from attending the proceedings of the house in the capacity of its member till action on the petition is taken.
