A Poclain machine operator allegedly hit a young man to death using the bucket of the machine late on Saturday on the Gumkhal-Satpuli road near Kotdwar after a dispute. According to the official sources, the incident occurred during road widening work late at night. They informed that as per some people’s claims, the operator intentionally hit the local youth with the machine’s bucket, killing him on the spot.
The accused operator of the machine fled the scene immediately after the incident. Locals alerted the police, who arrived and took possession of the body. Authorities sent the body for post mortem examination and registered a case. The officials said that the preliminary investigation suggests that the act was intentional.
Police have identified the accused and are conducting search operations to arrest him. They said that the police are gathering statements from witnesses and collecting available evidence to support the case. Police have also appealed to the public to share any relevant information that could help locate the absconding operator.
