Purola police arrested a youth with 853 gram of hashish whose estimated market price is about Rs 1, 80,000. The youth was carrying the narcotics on a motorcycle and the police team stopped and arrested him while conducting a vehicle checking drive along the Purola-Naugaon Road. During interrogation, the accused-identified as Ramesh Singh Rana (26), resident of Mori, Uttarkashi- is claimed to have said that he had prepared the hashish himself and was carrying it to sell.
On this basis of his confession, police registered a case against the accused at Purola police station under the NDPS Act. The motorcycle used in smuggling was impounded, too.
