The Dehradun police arrested a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl. The action was taken after the victim’s father lodged a police complaint about the incident. According to the police, a resident of Doiwala area had lodged a complaint with the police on April 29 stating that accused Atul Singh (21) had taken his 15-year-old daughter from their home under some pretext and then had allegedly raped her. The girl had informed her father about the incident after returning home. The police registered a case under various sections. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh instructed the police to trace and arrest the accused, who is a resident of the Laltappad area of Doiwala. A police team was formed to apprehend the accused. The team activated its informants’ network to trace and nab the accused in addition to checking CCTV camera footage from locations near the scene of the incident. Based on the information collected, the police managed to trace the accused and arrest him from Bal Kunwari Chowk in the Laltappad area on Friday.
