In a significant step towards environmental awareness and sustainable waste management for celebration of World Environment Day 2025, EcoGroup Society, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and EIACP hub organised an awareness campaign at Shri Guru Ram Rai Public College, Sahastradhara Road. The campaign was attended by about 300 students who engaged actively in discussions and activities centered around plastic waste and electronic waste management.

The session was aimed at sensitising students to the environmental and health hazards posed by the unchecked disposal of plastic and electronic waste. Experts from the EcoGroup Society highlighted the alarming consequences of waste accumulation in households and commercial establishments. They emphasised the urgent need for collective action and educated students on simple, practical methods to reduce, reuse, and responsibly dispose of such waste.

One of the key highlights of the event was the introduction of eco-bricks — plastic bottles tightly packed with non-biodegradable plastic waste to create reusable building blocks. Students showed great interest in this innovative concept and pledged their support to the campaign by committing to make eco-bricks and spread awareness in their communities. The initiative aims to reduce the plastic footprint in Uttarakhand and promote creative recycling methods.

EcoGroup Society team members including Ashish Garg, Anil Kumar Mehta, Bhavya Tandon, Naman Panwar, Kritika Gupta, Charvi Arora and Rinku managed various aspects of the event and interacted closely with the students.
