Youngest Everest summiteer given warm welcome at his village

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Uttarkashi
The 16-year-old Sachin Kumar-this year’s youngest climber to scale Mount Everest- received an unprecedented welcome on his return to his village. The NCC cadet was brought to his village Dadmali Pujargaon (Dhanari) in a roadshow that started from Kachudu Devta temple at Devidhar amidst playing of dhol-damau and other traditional instruments and showers of flower petals.
Visibly overwhelmed, he said that there was a time when his fingers had grown numb amidst the snow around the peak. “But I did not give up. I got a lot of support from the Indian Army,” he said.
