Dehradun police found the bodies of a young man and a woman in a hotel in Rishikesh on Monday. Police said that the man was a resident of Bijnor while the woman was a local resident of Rishikesh. The police suspect that both committed suicide as per the preliminary inquiry.
The police said that as per the hotel staff, a man and woman identified as Himanshu and Varsha respectively reportedly checked-in at the hotel on Sunday evening. Both did not come outside the hotel the whole day and when they called them multiple times on Monday, none of them responded so they had to call the police. After the police entered the room, they found their bodies lying there on the bed.
The police said that it was revealed in the primary investigation that both deceased were allegedly lovers. It is being said that the woman’s parents had arranged her marriage with another man but she did not want to marry him. It might be the cause of their suicide but nothing concrete can be said yet, said the police. They said that the bodies have been sent for Panchayatnama and police are investigating the matter from every angle.
