The chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW), Kusum Kandwal exhorted everyone to make yoga a daily habit while participating in a seven-day yoga camp held to mark International Yoga Day, alongside women and children at the Women Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre in Kedarpuram, Dehradun, on Friday. During the event, she, along with the staff of Nari Niketan, practised yoga.
Speaking on the occasion, Kandwal said that yoga develops inner strength and revitalises energy. “It is an ideal means to calm restless minds and delve deeper into our consciousness. Thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian culture and the tradition of yoga are being embraced worldwide. Today, many around the globe have made yoga an essential part of their daily life,” she stated.
Lauding the initiatives of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to engage the youth in yoga, she said that this has increased employment opportunities in the field of yoga. “I must thank the State government for having formulated a new yoga policy aimed at making Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness,” she added.
