Working to make U’khand global hub of Yoga: CM

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is working on making Uttarakhand a global hub of Yoga and wellness tourism. He said that the State government has recently approved the new Yoga Policy under which a subsidy up to Rs 20 lakhs is being provided for developing Yoga and meditation centers in the State.
The CM said this while participating in the ‘Run for Yoga’ programme organized at MKP College, Dehradun on Sunday. He also marched on foot from Gandhi Park to MKP College to make the youth, elderly and women aware of Yoga.
He said that the Yoga centres already operating in the state are also being promoted. A grant of up to Rs 10 lakh is also being given to promote research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy. There are immense possibilities of Yoga and wellness in the state, on which the state government is continuously working, he said.
Appealing everyone to adopt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle, the CM said Yoga keeps the body and mind healthy and through it positivity can also be brought in the society.
The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had proposed International Yoga Day on 21 June in the United Nations general assembly, which was adopted by the whole world. He said Uttarakhand is the land of yoga, AYUSH and spirituality.
He urged everyone to participate enthusiastically in the upcoming International Yoga Day. “ It is our collective responsibility to spread Yoga to the masses. Sages and saints have developed the wonderful art of integrating body, soul and mind through Yoga. It makes life healthy and disciplined. Today the world is getting attracted towards Yoga,’’ he said.
MLAs Khajan Das and Bharat Chaudhary, vice president state sports council Hemraj Bisht, secretary AYUSH Dipendra Chaudhary, additional secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande and others attended the programme.
