Woman delivers baby at hospital gate, minister orders inquiry

 Taking cognisance of the reports that a pregnant woman delivered a baby at the gate of the government female hospital in Haldwani, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has ordered an inquiry. This woman was reportedly referred by two government hospitals before she delivered the baby at the gate of the third hospital. In view of the seriousness of the incident, the minister Rawat has directed the secretary of his department to conduct an inquiry on the incident. On a stern note he said that strict action would be taken against those found guilty. He said that failing to provide medical facilities by the hospital administration comes under gross negligence of duties and it would not be tolerated.

In a statement released on Sunday, Rawat said that he has a very serious note of the incident and directed the secretary, health to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within three days. He said that the complaints that the lady was referred to by the sub district hospital Khatima and Sushila Tiwari hospital Haldwani would also be investigated Rawat said that every aspect of such a sensitive incident would be investigated. The minister added that he has clearly told the officers of the department that any negligence in work would not be tolerated. He said that the state government has made an arrangement under the Khushiyon Ki Sawari scheme under which pregnant women are taken to the hospital free of cost. The new born child and mother are also sent back to their home in these ambulances under this scheme. The minister said that the department has released a toll free number 102 for the Khushiyon Ki Sawari scheme. The beneficiaries have to dial this number to avail this free transportation to hospital and home facility, he added.
