Police have arrested a woman for allegedly causing the death of her four-year-old stepson after pushing him during an argument in Doiwala, Dehradun district. The officials informed that a Doiwala resident and the father of the victim Rahul Kumar lodged a complaint at the Doiwala police station on Sunday. He stated that after the death of his first wife, he had married Priya, who lives in Ambedkar Colony, Badowala, Shimla Bypass Road in Dehradun. His son Vivaan, aged four, from his first marriage, lived with them.

The officials said that according to the complaint, on the morning of October 27, while Kumar was at work, Priya allegedly pushed Vivaan in anger, causing him to fall on the floor and lose consciousness. The child sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to the hospital. He alleged that Priya often treated the child harshly and used to beat him over minor issues. He suspected that her actions caused his son’s death. Based on his complaint, police registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Doiwala police station. The officials said that the police started an investigation and collected information from neighbours and detained Priya for questioning.
