Weather warning looms overhead yet again

While residents of the plains are suffering from warm daytime temperatures and humidity, residents of various mountainous regions of the State have suffered from moderate rain and hail resulting in damage to crops and some damage.

Similar conditions are expected to continue with the State Meteorological Centre issuing a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/ intense to very intense spells of rain  usty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Sunday.

Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Pauri, Champawat, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts of while thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense spells of rain/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts and thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the plain districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Nainital, Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Dehradun districts while light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in remaining districts of Uttarakhand.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are also likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 36.3 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.2 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.6 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.5 degrees Celsius and 15.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 17.2 millimetres rain in Mukteshwar and 3.5 millimetres in Pithoragarh.
