Weather warning issues for mountainous regions

The State meteorological centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with hail/lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) and intense shower likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Tuesday.  Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) and intense shower are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountains of the remaining districts of Uttarakhand.

Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places in the mountainous regions of the State. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the plains today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the rainfall recorded in various areas of the State on Monday was 17 millimetres in Chandrabadani, 11.5 millimetres in Bhikiyasain, 9.5 millimetres in Jakholi, 7.5 millimetres in Dunda and six millimetres in Chinyalisaur. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 35.2 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.9 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25 degrees Celsius and 14.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
