The water supply system set up by the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has begun operations along the Hemkund Sahib Yatra route. The Hemkund Sahib Yatra is scheduled to start on May 25 this year.
Stating this, UJS secretary (Administration), Satendra Kumar Gupta provided an update on the water infrastructure along the Yatra route. He said that officials have been monitoring the water systems for the Char Dham Yatra for several months. The operations for these water systems were initiated with the start of the Char Dham Yatra on April 30. However, the water systems along the Hemkund Sahib Yatra route had not begun functioning, as the Yatra there had not started. As the date for the Hemkund Sahib Yatra nears, these water systems have recently been activated, he said.
He added that control rooms have been established along the Yatra route, staffed by concerned officials and others to ensure that pilgrims do not encounter issues related to water supply. If any problems arise, the officials will address the water supply issues as quickly as possible. Further, he stated that pilgrims can reach out to the state-level toll-free number 18001804100 or 1916 for any complaints or assistance.
It will be recalled that earlier Gupta said that the responsible officials have been assigned to maintain a steady water supply along the entire Yatra route and have collaborated with local administration to ensure that water is available as needed. In the event of emergencies, tankers will be positioned along the roadside for the Yatra.
In addition, he previously informed that steps are being implemented to ensure that pilgrims experience no challenges with water supply during the Char Dham Yatra and officials have been directed accordingly.
