Warning- thunderstorms with hail & intense spells likely in parts of State

The weather is set to take a turn again on Monday which may bring relief from the heat but also affect crops, especially fruits, and affect routine life in some parts of the State. The State Meteorological Centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/intense spells of rain/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Monday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Almora, Champawat and Nainital districts while thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts today.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Almora, Champawat and Nainital districts while very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Monday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are also likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 35.5 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.5 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.2 degrees Celsius and 11.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.6 degrees Celsius and 14.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Rain was reported in some parts of the State with one millimetre in Rudraprayag and 0.5 millimetre in Pithoragarh on Sunday.
