Warning- heavy rain, very intense spells likely in seven districts today

Light to moderate rain was witnessed in various parts of the State on Monday though no major disaster was reported. Similar weather is expected on Tuesday with the State Meteorological Centre also issuing a heavy rain warning for seven districts. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State.

The centre has issued an orange alert (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Nainital and Bageshwar districts today. A yellow warning (watch) has also been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur in parts of Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively here today.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Monday with 42 millimetres in Chakratga, 33 millimetres in Kashipur, 28.5 millimetres in Rikhnikhal, 24 millimetres in Champawat, 17.5 millimetres in Tanakpur, 15 millimetres in Srinagar, 12.5 millimetres each in Mukteshwar and Vikasnagar, 11 millimetres in Pantnagar and 4.6 millimetres in Dehradun.
