Various events were held in the runup to the International Day of Yoga programme to be attended by prime minister Narendra Modi here. While the police took out a walk for yoga in the morning, a practice session for officers, employees and students at Forest Research Institute (FRI) was held on Sunday.
 On Sunday morning, about 1100 police officers and personnel participated in a walk for yoga aimed at raising public awareness on the subject.  The walk began from the police headquarters and passed through Kanak Chowk, Gandhi Park, Clock Tower, Darshanlal Chowk and Lansdowne Chowk before concluding at the police HQ. The director general of police Anil Raturi, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, ADGs Ashok Kumar, Ram Singh Meena and Deepam Seth among others participated in the activity.
At the FRI officers club, the institute director Savita exhorted all to motivate the public to participate in the programme to be attended by the PM at FRI on June 21. Yoga experts taught various yogic exercises to the officers, employees and students in the practice session which is slated to continue in the next two days.
