PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has said that ‘vocal for local’ should not be a mere slogan but a sacred mission for the State. He was speaking at a Kafal party organised by him here on Sunday.

He said that the State will find the solution to the problem of migration from the mountainous areas by being vocal for local products. He said that said ‘vocal for local’ could be a slogan for some but for him and many others it is a mission. Rawat said that he first of all raised concern and took steps to promote local products of the State during his tenure as CM and at that time many took his initiative lightly. Now the need for being vocal for local is being felt at the national level. He said that concrete steps should be taken to promote local products and produce.

Rawat said that Kafal is associated with the tradition and culture of Uttarakhand and has many medicinal properties and benefits. He said that apart from promoting local produce, another objective for organising the get-together is to salute the armed forces of the country for the valour shown by them in the Operation Sindoor. He said the armed forces have safeguarded the honour of the country and have given a befitting reply to the enemy.

Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said that the Pahalgam incident in which innocent tourists were killed by terrorists shook the country and by Operation Sindoor our armed forces had taught a lesson to terrorists and their supporters.

Former minister Hira Singh Bisht, senior leaders Brahmswaroop Brahmchari, Suryakant Dhasmana, Garima Dasauni and other leaders of Congress party were present on the occasion. Armed forces veterans, social workers and people from all walks of life attended the programme.
