Visitors throng Nainital on last summer Sunday

Monday, 27 June 2022 | PNS | Nainital

The last Sunday before the advent of monsoon saw Nainital jam packed with tourists. With most of the hotels being fully booked on the weekend here, those related to tourism related businesses made brisk income. There has hardly any space for more vehicles in the parking spaces here which also caused some inconvenience to the visitors.

However, while the large number of tourists was good for the businesses of some people, the correspondingly large number of vehicles resulted in traffic congestion in the city. Such was the situation of the traffic congestion that on some routes there was not enough space even for pedestrians. Due to all the hotels and guest houses in Nainital being fully booked, many tourists made their way to Bhawali, Bhimtal, Ranikhet, Mukteshwar, Ramgarh and Naukuchiyatal. The vehicles of tourists who had not made advance bookings in hotels here were stopped at Rusi bypass, Narayannagar and Bhawali Road from where they were sent to the city by shuttle service. Even as the usual tourist destinations were crowded with visitors, the weather turning pleasant added to the enjoyment of the tourists.

While most of the day saw cloudy skies, fog also engulfed the city for some time. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Nainital on Sunday were 24 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius respectively.  Apart from Nainital, the other tourist destinations nearby including Bhawali, Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal and Sattal were also crowded with visitors.
