The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is working on various renovations to enhance the experience for visitors at the Gandhi Park. Executive engineer at MCD, Rachana Payal informed that several upgrades are underway, including the development of a cafeteria and the installation of a Chipko Andolan-themed structure inside the park.
Officials stated that the corporation is also establishing a central avenue point as part of the redevelopment plan. Alongside this, night lamps are being installed throughout the park to improve visibility and aesthetic appeal during the evening hours. In the central area, where tree density is the highest, special night-park sections are being developed to ensure better lighting and increased safety for visitors.
Providing details of the financial allocation, officials said that a budget of about Rs one crore has been approved for the project. They added that all renovation-related work, including the reconstruction of the main gate, is expected to be completed by December 31.
