Cong played major role in development of U’khand: Pritam

On the occasion of the state foundation day, the Uttarakhand Congress organised a seminar at the state headquarters of the party. Many speakers expressed their views in the seminar titled, ‘what Uttarakhand achieved and lost in 20 years’. Speaking on the occasion, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said that all sections of the society contributed in creation of a separate state of Uttarakhand. He said that in the last 20 years of its creation, Uttarakhand has witnessed many ups and downs. He said that the state is faced with many challenges and a lot of effort is needed to be done in bringing smiles on the faces of women and ensuring a safe future for the youth. He said that the foundation for the development of the state was laid during the regime of the first elected government of the state led by Narayan Dutt Tiwari. In his tenure the size of the annual plan was increased from Rs 900 Crore to Rs 5000 Crore. He said that the industrial areas of the state were developed during the regime of Congress party and the work on Tehri dam, Maneri Bhali and Dhauli Ganga hydro power projects were completed. The PCC president claimed that the Congress government ushered in path breaking changes in the education system and promoted mountainous agriculture. Singh said that the Congress government started celebrating the Harela festival which helped in giving a unique place to the culture of Uttarakhand in the world. He added that the Congress government also brought the tourism industry back on track which was hit hard during the disaster of 2013.

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana, Dhirendra Pratap, general secretary Navin Joshi, Rajendra Shah, Lal Chand Sharma, Garima Dasauni and others expressed their views in the seminar.
