Vaccination drive; 1,09,148 fully vaccinated in U’khand

83 new cases of Covid-19 reported on Saturday

Amid fears of a second wave of the pandemic of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in some states of the country, the vaccination drive against the disease is going on at a satisfactory pace in Uttarakhand. In the drive 13870 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Saturday.  In the state 109148 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. A total of 197811 senior citizens (60 Plus) have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state. Similarly 11785 persons in the age group of 45-59 years having co-morbidity have been vaccinated.  

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 276 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Saturday. In Dehradun 40 vaccine sessions were organised in which 1596 senior citizens, 121 people with co-morbidity, 647 healthcare workers and 573 frontline workers were vaccinated on Saturday. 

Similarly 902 senior citizens, 128 persons with co-morbidity, 42 health care workers and 337 front line workers were vaccinated in 75 vaccine sessions in Haridwar district on the day.

The state health department reported 83 new cases of the disease on Saturday which increased the cumulative tally of the disease to 98311 in the state. Death of no patient was reported by the department on the day. The disease has so far claimed 1704 lives in the state. The authorities discharged 50 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Saturday. A total of 94430 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far and the recovery percentage is now at 96.05. The state health department reported 35 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 23 from Haridwar, seven from Almora, six from Nainital, four from Udham Singh Nagar, three from Rudraprayag, two from Uttarkashi and one each from Champawat and Tehri districts on Saturday. No new patient was reported from Bageshwar and Chamoli districts on the day.

The state now has 756 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 266 patients, Dehradun has 183, Udham Singh Nagar 72, Pauri 37, Almora 30,  Champawat 17, Uttarkashi 14, Rudraprayag 12, Bageshwar six, Pithoragarh four and Chamoli three active patients of the disease.
