Uttarakhand govt reserves works upto Rs 10 crore for local contractors

Cabinet approves new Mega Industrial and Investment Policy & Yoga policy

Government works up to Rs 10 crore will be given only to local contractors in Uttarakhand. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held at the secretariat on Wednesday. Informing about the decision, Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that the cabinet approved an amendment in the Uttarakhand Procurement Policy -2017 with an objective of increasing employment opportunities for local people and their empowerment. He said that presently contracts up to Rs five crore are given for locals and now this limit has been raised to Rs 10 crore.
The amended policy provides priority to the self-help groups (SHG) and micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) in supplying goods to government offices. Jawalkar said that the State government has also decided to remove the system of depositing the earnest money in the tender process in physical form. The process of electronic bank guarantee (EBG) will now be followed in the tender process in the State.
In another decision, the State cabinet approved the Uttarakhand Mega Industrial and Investment Policy- 2025. The secretary Shailesh Bagauli said that the new policy aims to develop a competitive and investment friendly ecosystem in the State.
The policy divides the industrial units in the State into four categories, large industry (Rs 50 crore to 200 crore), ultra large (Rs 200 crore to 500 crore), mega industry (Rs 500 crore to Rs 1000 crore) and ultra-mega industry (more than Rs 1000 crore). The government has mandated that these industrial units will give permanent employment to 50, 150, 300 and 500 people respectively. The policy has a provision of reimbursement of 50 per cent of the amount (maximum Rs 50 lakh) in stamp duty payable on lease deeds and land purchase documents for setting up industrial units in the State.
In another important decision, the cabinet approved the Uttarakhand Yoga Policy 2025. The government aims to set up five new Yoga hubs in the State till 2030 and promises to provide Yoga services in all the Ayush health and wellness centres.
With an objective of encouraging entrepreneurs to set up Yoga centres, the government will provide grant equivalent to 50 per cent of the project cost in the mountainous areas ( maximum Rs 20 lakh) and 25 per cent of project cost in the plain areas ( maximum Rs 10 lakh of the State.
Bagauli informed that the government set up a target to develop Jageshwar, Mukteshwar, Vyas valley, Tehri Lake and Kolidhek Lake as Yoga hubs.
In a decision, which will help in putting the State Government Health Scheme (SGHS) for government employees and pensioners back on track, the cabinet approved the proposal to provide a loan of Rs 75 crore to the State Health Authority (SHA). The amount will be used by the SHA to pay its due to the private hospitals. Due to delayed payments most of the private hospitals have refused cashless treatment to golden card holders.
New policies to boost economy, employment: CM Dhami
DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the cabinet has taken many historic decisions at its meeting held on Wednesday. He said that the decision to give contracts worth Rs 10 crore to the locals will create employment opportunities and strengthen their economy.
He said that the Uttarakhand Mega Industrial and Investment Policy-2025 will give an impetus to the economy and employment generation. Dhami said that the Yoga policy will help in creating more than 13,000 employment opportunities in the state. He said that more than 2,500 Yoga instructors are likely to get employment in the homestays, resorts and hotels. The CM said that Uttarakhand has become the first State in the country to implement Yoga policy.
