Based on its five years of work in hemp sector the U-Turn foundation has offered its support to Uttarakhand government in creation of farmer and eco friendly hemp policies. The foundation’s founding president Hemant Nav Kumar said this during the 14th foundation day function of the organisation here on Sunday..

Kumar thanked members of the organisation, volunteers, government departments, media and public for support which made 13 years of U-Turn’s journey a journey to remember. He said that it all started with the resolve to protect the fragile environment of Dehradun with ‘Preserve Green Doon’ campaign which led to polythene ban in Dehradun. “It is a matter of pride for us that today U-Turn Foundation’s field of work extends to remote villages of Uttarakhand where our objective is to generate employment in agriculture and technology. Experience of 13 years with uphill challenges has equipped our team to spearhead the hemp mission in Uttarakhand as representatives of local farmers and entrepreneurs,” he said.

Apart from Hemp mission, UTF is currently consolidating its work for children of underprivileged areas and preservation of ecology in Uttarakhand.

Speaking on the occasion, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Usha Negi exhorted all to cooperate in the fight against the abuse of hard drugs like smack. She urged the parents to be aware of the mental stress experienced by children as mental stress is the main reason for drug addiction among youth today.
