The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) is expecting that the number of tourists from Gujarat arriving in Uttarakhand will increase in the near future following the roadshows held by the board in various cities in Gujarat. The UTDB held roadshows from January 15 to 20 in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot with various programmes being held as part of the initiative to encourage tourism in Uttarakhand and inviting investment in the State’s tourism industry.

The UTDB officials also interacted with the media highlighting the unexplored aspects of tourism and other attractions of Uttarakhand. The people of Gujarat were also introduced to the new tourist destinations being developed in Uttarakhand and the International Yoga Festival to be organised in March. Activities were also held in various shopping malls in all the four cities to connect with the local people and provide them information about tourism in Uttarakhand. The officials also interacted with the local tour operators in a meeting also attended by the major tour operators of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand’s Tourism secretary Sachin Kurve said, “In 2022, more than three crore tourists visited Uttarakhand, out of which 12-15 per cent were from Gujarat. In the Gujarat event, we unveiled many unexplored places in addition to the well known tourist places of Uttarakhand.  As a result of these efforts we are hopeful of a considerable growth in tourism in the State this year and in the years to come. “
