UPNL to provide golf cart for ex-servicemen in Dehradun Military Hospital

The Uttarakhand government has decided to provide a golf cart to the Army on the demand of the Uttarakhand Sub Area. On the directive of Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi, the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) has provided the cart. The cart will be handed over to the Army in programme at Jaswant Ground on Saturday in presence of governor lieutenant general ( retd) Gurmit Singh and chief of defence staff general Anil Chauhan.
The deputy general officer commanding of Uttarakhand Sub Area, brigadier RS Thapa had met minister Joshi recently and informed him about the need of a golf cart. He said that the cart will be beneficial for the ex-servicemen and ECHS card holders visiting Military Hospital. Taking cognizance of the demand, Joshi directed the UPNL to provide the cart. He said that the cart will make movement of ex-servicemen easy. The minister averred that the double engine government is committed for the respect and welfare of the armed forces personnel.
The minister informed that in case of death of any UPNL worker a sum of Rs 1.50 lakh will be provided to the family. Apart from this an assistance of Rs 50 lakh is being provided to the family of deceased UPNL worker under a MoU with the Punjab National Bank. The one time ex-gratia payment for the family of martyrs which earlier was Rs 10 lakh has been raised to Rs 50 lakh. The minister said that Uttarakhand has become the first State in the country where ex-servicemen are appointed as block representatives on a monthly remuneration of Rs 10,000.
