UPES hosts International Conference on Mathematical Sciences

UPES, in partnership with the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF-SERB) and the Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST), hosted the International Conference on Mathematical Sciences: Emerging Applications in Engineering and Environmental Sustainability (ICMS 2025).

The conference brought together over 250 participants, including students, researchers and professionals from around the world to discuss and explore the transformative role of mathematical sciences in solving critical global challenges. The focus was on applying advanced mathematical tools to tackle real-world issues such as climate change, disaster prediction, water resource management and sustainable energy, particularly within the context of the Himalayan terrain.

The conference was inaugurated by distinguished guests, including the director and J C Bose National Fellow at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Virendra M Tiwari and director, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, Vineet K. Gahalaut with Prof Tadeusz Czachórski from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland.

A total of 200+ abstracts were submitted, with 107 selected for oral presentations, representing a diverse array of themes. The selected papers will be published in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals, providing valuable exposure to the contributing researchers.

Sharing his insights on the importance of the event, the vice- chancellor, UPES, Ram Sharma said that the ICMS 2025 conference was a monumental step towards fostering global collaboration in mathematical sciences. “It is vital that we leverage interdisciplinary approaches to solve the pressing environmental and engineering challenges of our time,” he added.
