UPCL to give relief to electricity consumers in November bills

The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has decided to provide a relief of Rs 13.44  crore to the electricity consumers of the State in the electricity bills of November 2025. The corporation has implemented the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) system which allows it to pass on the changes in the cost of fuel used to generate power to consumers when fuel prices rise or fall. The corporation saved money in the electricity purchase cost head in the month of September 2025 and it has now decided to transfer this saving to the consumers in the bill cycle of November 2025.

As per the FPPCA, the UPCL will provide a rebate of three paise to nine paise per unit to the domestic consumers, 13 paise per unit to the non-domestic consumers, 12 paise per unit to government public utilities, Rs four paise per unit to private tube wells, five to six paise per unit to the agricultural activities, 12 paise per unit to LT industries, 12 paise per unit to HT industries, 81 paise per unit on mix load, 81 paise on railway traction, 11 paise per unit on electric vehicle charging station and 14 paise per unit on the temporary electricity connections in billing cycle of November 2025. The UPCL had provided a rebate of Rs 101 crore to the electricity consumers under FPPCA in May and Rs 112 crore in July 2025.
