UP residents transported back, 816 stranded Pauri residents sent home
The State administration started sending back people to their native places in Uttar Pradesh and home districts within Uttarakhand. After completion of their quarantine period, residents of Uttar Pradesh temporarily staying at relief camps in Dehradun district were sent in buses to Uttar Pradesh under the directions of the Garhwal region nodal officer, Dehradun superintendent of police (Traffic) Prakash Chandra on Saturday.
A total of 276 such persons were sent in 15 buses while observing social distancing and other precautions to the neighbouring state. Similarly, the process of ferrying back persons stranded in Dehradun to their home districts within the state has also been started. After screening, 816 people of Pauri district were sent in 29 buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation from the Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun.
Apart from being thermal screened, these persons were also informed about the basics of protection from COVID-19. During the next two days, people from various districts who were stranded in Dehradun due to the lockdown will be transported back to their home districts. The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Shrivastava informed that other district magistrates have been requested that in case any patient from their district is referred to Dehradun for treatment, they should be referred to the Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant and not the Government Doon Medical College hospital or All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh.
