Unnecessary delay in Ankita Bhandari murder case worrying: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated on Thursday that “unnecessary delay” in taking action against the accused in the Ankita Bhandari murder case by the authorities concerned may lead to their acquittal by the court as it recently happened in the case of a gangrape and murder of a young woman from Uttarakhand in Delhi.

AAP spokesman Ravindra Singh Anand opined that the authorities have failed to take any action in the Ankita murder case that will actually lead to justice. He said that the government has been busy in politicising the matter for its own advantage and in demolishing Vanantra resort where the victim worked as a receptionist where potentially several pieces of evidence could have been useful in the case. He said that the Supreme Court recently acquitted three men who were accused of gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in Delhi in 2012.

The AAP leader said that authorities here should take appropriate steps to expedite the investigation process to file chargesheet against the accused to avoid the fate of the gangrape and murder case of Delhi after 10 years of the incident.
