The Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that efforts would be undertaken to raise the level of education in India to achieve a position among the top 10 nations in the world. The minister said this after arriving in his parliamentary constituency- Haridwar for the first time on Friday after assuming charge as union minister. He was welcomed with garlands and beats of traditional dhol at various places en route.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Nishank said, “I convey my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving me this responsibility. I shall be fulfilling my assignment with full responsibility and maintain transparency in projects undertaken. We shall try to raise the level of education in India to among top 10 nations of the world in the near future.”
Earlier, at Har Ki Paidi, special worship and rituals were performed by priest and president of Ganga Mahasabha. Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik and other party leaders were also present on the occasion. From Har Ki Paidi he went to Mayadevi and Daksheshwar temple. He also sought blessings from various Akhada heads and ascetics.
Earlier, at the airport he was received by cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal, MLAs Sanjay Gupta, Yateeshwaranand, Suresh Rathore and other Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.
Visiting Mayadevi temple, he was welcomed by general secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Hari Giri. At Daksheshwar temple Mahant Ravindra Puri of Mahanirvani Akhada and in-charge of the temple management committee greeted the minister and gave him his blessings. Later he went to Pardeshwar Shivling and also took blessings from Swami Rajrajeshwarashram of Jagadguru Ashram.
During his two day visit to Uttarakhand, the union minister is also slated to visit Badrinath and Kedarnath.
