Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has cancelled the controversial graduate- level examination conducted by it on September 21 in all the districts of the State. The commission took the decision on the directive of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The CM asked the UKSSSC to cancel the examination on the basis of the interim report of the single member investigation commission headed by former judge of Uttarakhand High Court justice JC Dhyani. Alleging paper leak, the student associations and the unemployed youth organisations were demanding cancellation of the recruitment examination.
Announcing the cancellation of the examination, the UKSSSC chairman Ganesh Singh Martolia said that the cancelled examination will be again conducted within three months. He accepted that the commission should ensure the purity and transparency of any recruitment examination. He said that the commission is conducting all the recruitment examinations with total transparency. Martolia said that one unfortunate incident occurred in the graduate level examination on September 21. He said that the commission will implement the recommendations of the judicial commission headed by justice Dhayani. Martolia also claimed that the commission has conducted a security audit of the examination process and will also conduct an audit of the examination centres in the State. He said that the commission has released a calendar of examinations till June 2026 and all the examinations will be conducted on scheduled time. Martoila appealed to all the students to focus on the preparations and should not get swayed by anyone. He said that the candidates should inform the commission and the police about any suspicious element.
It is pertinent to mention here that the graduate level examination conducted by the UKSSSC came under cloud when screenshots of some questions of the examination started circulating in the social media even as the examination was going on. The Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) had alleged that the question paper had been leaked and started an agitation demanding CBI inquiry and cancellation of the examination. The State government initially refused to acknowledge that the sanctity of the examination had been violated but in surprise move on September 29, CM Dhami went to the protest site of UBS and assured CBI inquiry in the case. The CM also ordered the constitution of a one member commission headed by justice (retd) Dhyani. On the basis of the report of the commission, the CM ordered cancellation of the examination on Saturday.
