U’khand woos film fraternity at 54th IFFI in Goa

A presentation was made on film shooting and investment in the film industry in Uttarakhand as part of the knowledge series in the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa on Friday. The Uttarakhand Film Development Council nodal officer Nitin Upadhyaya made the presentation the film related aspects of Uttarakhand.

Upadhyaya informed the gathering that the film industry is being encouraged in Uttarakhand on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Work is being undertaken to provide a 360 degree eco system for the film industry in the State with focus on encouraging talent, training and technology. The new film policy of the State has been proposed with this intention. He informed that opportunities for investment in the film industry sector are being created under the new film policy in Uttarakhand. Special grants and facilities will be provided for establishment of the film city, setting up of film institutions, new shooting studios and new production houses, he said.

Upadhyaya further informed that the Global Investors Summit is being held in Dehradun in December on CM Dhami’s instructions. Investors are being invited to invest in various sectors in this global summit.  He said that there are immense possibilities for film producers and directors for film production and film industry in Uttarakhand. He informed the film producers present on the occasion about the Industry department’s service sector policy under which there is provision for upto 25 per cent subsidy is provided on investment in the film and media sectors. Upadhyaya invited film producers, directors, writers and other professionals connected to the film industry to come and invest in Uttarakhand.

According to State government officials, more than 100 film producers, directors, writers and other professionals of the film industry visited the Uttarakhand pavilion to seek information about film shooting and investment in the State.
