U’khand to present Lakhpati Didi model at chief secretaries meeting in New Delhi

 Rural Development minister Ganesh Joshi reviewed the progress of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) at his camp office on Tuesday. In the meeting he directed the officers to effectively implement the government schemes on ground.

 The officers informed the minister that the 5th national convention of the chief secretaries will be organised in the first week of December 2025 at ICAR Pusa, New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the meeting. Under the concept of thematic meals, state centric sessions on various subjects will be organised in the convention and discussion with nodal ministries and departments of government of India will be held. The objective of the convention is to share the excellent initiatives of the State and prepare a collective strategy for rural development. 

The minister was informed that Uttarakhand has been given a special responsibility in the convention. State CS Anand Bardhan has been appointed convener of the ‘ Lakhpati Didi 3.0: development of value chain for augmenting income of rural women’ thematic meet. In the event the officers will present the model of increasing income of the women self-help groups by strengthening the value chain and encouraging them for enterprise development.

Joshi directed the officers that the participation of the Uttarakhand in the convention should be effective, innovative and result oriented. He said that the programmes of income generation of women of the state should be taken up at a fast pace and the achievements of the State should be effectively presented on the platform in an effective manner. He said that the Lakhpati Didi model is an inspirational success story of Uttarakhand which should be further strengthened. He said there are more than 1.65 lakh Lakhpati Didis in the State.

The minister directed the officers to make complete preparations and coordinate with the officers of the central government for the programme.

The meeting was attended by additional secretary Jharna Kamthan and other officers.
