The Uttarakhand government has decided to honour the meritorious students of class XII and X in a unique way. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to give an opportunity to the toppers of the class XII and X board examinations to serve as District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) for one day.

The objective of this inspirational programme is to provide administrative experience to outstanding students, boost their confidence, and motivate them to aim higher.  On the orders of the CM, the State administration is planning to implement the scheme in the districts soon. A detailed action plan in this regard is being prepared.

In another significant decision, CM Dhami has instructed the State administration to organise ‘River Festivals’. These festivals, named after the State’s major rivers, will be held with the participation of the people.

CM said that the rivers of the state are not just water sources, but are also an integral part of our culture and lifestyle.   “Through these festivals the general public will be made aware of the importance of water conservation and cleanliness,’’ he said.
